1. How to turn a t shirt into a dress normal
From top to bottom, a “fitted dress” follows the contours of the body. It could also be used to describe a dress with a fitted top. You may build your own fitting dress to save money and obtain the precise style, color, and fit that you want, whether you’re making a ball gown, pleated dress, or tiered dress. To construct a dress, you just need a basic understanding of sewing; however, you do not need to be an expert. Here are some ideas for how to turn a t shirt into a dress.
1.1 Choose a big T-shirt
Locate a fitted shirt as well as a large, baggy shirt. The fitted shirt will serve as your template, so make sure it fits properly. Your baggy shirt will eventually become your dress. It must be at least mid-thigh length or longer, or it will be too short. Large men’s shirts work especially well for this.

1.2 Determine the size
First, making a shirt into a dress is turning the shirt inside out. Tuck the sleeves of the fitted tee inside so they are out of the way if you want your dress to be sleeveless.

Check that both long, folded edges are aligned. Both shirts’ shoulders and collars should match. This is one of the most important steps to turn t shirt into dress.

1.3 Trace 12 inch around the fitted shirt’s sides
This additional space will serve as your seam allowance. Trace around the sleeves/armholes and the side edges. When you reach the bottom of the fitted shirt, come to a halt. Draw not across the bottom hem. For light-colored fabrics, use a dressmaker’s pen and a dressmaker’s chalk.

On top of your large shirt, place a long ruler or straight edge. It should be angled so that it connects with the bottom corners of the fitted and large shirts. Remove the ruler after drawing along that line.
1.4 Draw lines and sew the side seams together
The next step in how to turn a t shirt into a dress is remove and store the fitted shirt first. Cut along the lines you drew with a pair of fabric scissors. Make certain that you cut through all four pieces of clothing. Unfold the tee and pin the edges together. Pin along the two side edges, keeping the right sides facing in. Pin along the armholes and sleeve ends only. Sew the side seams together. A 12-inch seam allowance and a narrow zigzag stitch are recommended. Sew all along bottom and top edges of the sleeves, but not the openings, if you added sleeves.
1.5 Structural change and finishing
If desired, hem the dress. Although t-shirt fabric does not fray, it will give your dress a more professional appearance. 12 inches up from the bottom hem (1.27 centimeters). Iron it flat, then sew a narrow zigzag stitch around it, 18 inches away from the inside edge. You also can hem the sleeves or armholes in the same way.
Consider making changes to the collar. The collar on most baggy T-shirts is uninteresting. Increase the difficulty by first removing the collar. Trim the front of collar to create a V-neck or scoop-neck. Fold the edges down by 12 inches and zigzag stitch them in place. You can also bind them with bias tape or extra ribbed fabric.
Flip the dress inside out. It is now ready for use! If the flare of the dress is too much for you, turn it inside out and sew the bottom edges narrower so they don’t angle as much.
